The Left has no ideas. They call themsleves Progressives, yet long to return to the 1930′s or the 1960′s. All they have left is the People’s Ridicule Brigade, Rule 5, and they use it to demonize people who believe in the Enlightement ideals embodied in the American Revolution. They used it in 2008 to ravage a tremendous American Patriot, they tried and failed to deploy it in time in 2010, and they are currently using it to wipe out conservative candidates and tee up Romney for the big Fall 2012 pie-in-the-face. Let’s take a quick look at Santorum and not the Prog’s cartoon of Santorum (jeff at protein wisdom lays it out very well), and I’ll try to expand on the issues in upcoming posts.

Santorum is a Catholic. That’s certainly not a dis-qualifier for me, some of my personal heroes, Solzhenistyn, John Paul II, Walesa are/were all dedicated Catholics, and I certainly consider them moral and political giants. Did they believe things I don’t believe? Absolutely. Were they working to bring light to a miserable world, to expand the rights and liberty of their fellow men? Even more absolutely. Were their opponents politically and morally abhorent? Completely, though then and now they are decidedly certain of their own moral rectitude.

Santorum is also an American Constitutionalist. Here’s what he says he wants to do when he becomes President. I don’t see the establishment of a theocracy, concentration camps for the gheys, or an individual mandate to only contracept through Pope-N-Hope® rhythm method manuals anywhere on the agenda.  I do see someone who believes in and will defend the American Constitution.

In Barack Obama I see someone who would Transform America, into a European style social democracy.  That is tremendously more erosive of my rights, my individual liberties, than electing a Catholic who accepts his Constitutional constraints; and that I will not abide.
